Alright, one last look at the Ruby Princess cruise ship before the images and video get packed away on the external hard drive and forgotten. Earlier this month, we put up images of the exterior of the this ship (Ruby Princess exterior).
Final opinion: Yes, I would cruise with Princess again. I might not take the same itiniary (7 day Eastern Caribbean) but the crew were awesome for a relatively low budge line. I probably would not take a seven month old baby again! This has nothing to do with Princess, there just wasn’t enough crawl space on board the ship.
A look down the outside of deck 5. I spent a bit of time here over the final day at sea and when I do find myself back on a similar ship, I will spend much more. This is about as close as you can get to the open water and it really is quite peaceful.
However, at night with the boat rocking and with nothing but blackness beyond about 20 feet, It didn’t take me long to flee inside after going outside to go for a breath of fresh air, with the baby in my arms.
Believe it or not, we spent absolutely no time in this little oasis at the aft of the ship. It’s amazing how large these vessels are. After a whole week, there are areas that you’ve glimpsed but really haven’t yet discovered. Our state room was at the opposite end of the boat and we spent most of our ‘outdoor’ time on the Lido and Sun decks.
Another glimpse of the rear of the Ruby Princess. This image was taken Deck 19, or the Star Deck. There is a small jogging track way up here but the high winds at sea and a rocking boat can make this a bit challenging.

With a baby, we weren’t allowed in The Santuary. This is an adult’s only area on Deck 17 at the front of the Ruby Princess.

Waiting to leave the island of St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands. Beyond are houses scattered in the hills above Charlotte Amalie, the capital and largest city in the U.S.V.I.
The Panoramic Lifts at the Atrium. There are two elevators that move between Deck 5 and Deck 7 only and have a glass wall that allows you to look out on the Atrium. The Atrium is an open space three decks high at the centre of the ship. This area is the shopping and specialty restaurant centre of the Ruby Princess.
