What follows are the ten most popular images over the past 90 days at Picoday, our companion site. Picoday is a free WordPress.com website that serves as a gallery for my photos.
Although probably not even close to best images by quality on the site, these are the most popular. Click on any of the pictures to be taken to the site.
1. A Diablo Rojo in El Valle, Panama. In this Central American country, these converted school buses are a major source of transportation. Owners take great pride in the unique painting of these vehicles.
This picture was taken at the parking lot to El Macho, a waterfall and zip-lining park just outside of El Valle.
2. A post of much controversy. Cannings Falls is located about 10km northeast of Orangeville, Ontario on the Nottawasaga River. The Falls are located just outside the Hockley Valley Provincial Park, on private land. Visitors to the waterfall are few because it’s a bit of a battle to get there. The local landowners are very possessive of their low quality land and do not like the exact location of this gem publicized.
3. This image was created when I was learning to blend two photos together using Photoshop Elements 8. I took the picture of the Emirates Airbus A380 at Pearson International Airport in Toronto. The background in this image is near ‘The Pinnacle’ at Boyne River Provincial Park, along the Bruce Trail, near Shelburne, Ontario.
4. Getting a little artsy on the train tracks near Cataract, Ontario. The tracks are in Forks of the Credit Provincial Park and house the Credit Valley Explorer tour and dinner train. The location was recently featured in the movie ‘The Man on the Train’ starring Donald Sutherland.
5. Despite recent efforts by Donald Trump, First Canadian Place in Toronto, Ontario remains the tallest skyscraper in Canada. The building has a height of 978 feet and was built in 1975.
6. This was a parting shot at Playa Pesquero Resort in Cuba. We visited in 2011 and I took this on a last minute photo blitz of the resort before the bus pulled away for the Airport in Holguin. The vintage Chevy was sitting in the employee parking lot at the resort.
7. This shot was taken on October 10, 2011. After celebrating my birthday by watching the sunrise from the above mentioned ‘Pinnacle’, I drove up to check out this little known spot. The location is the Pine River Provincial Fishing Area. The park is dissected by the Bruce Trail.
8. An experiment with trying to create a viral Meme using Photoshop Elements. The picture is of the summit of Mount Carleton, the highest peak in Canada’s Maritime provinces. Mount Carleton is located within Mount Carleton Provincial Park in New Brunswick.
9. I don’t think I quite worded this one grammatically correct – but hopefully you get the point. This sign is along the Bruce Trail in Ontario and is a fine example of redundancy. If you can’t trespass you can’t, well, you can’t do anything on that property.
10. One horrible photo of the inside of Kitchener, Ontario’s Memorial Auditorium (The Aud). This is from an Ontario Hockey League game in 2010 between the Erie Otters and the Kitchener Rangers.
