Reel Short Details: Sunset Boat Ride On Pigeon Lake

  • by

If you were really into the science of meteorology, you could probably predict a beautiful sunset or sunrise with maybe a tiny better amount of accuracy than the rest of us. But, it really comes down to luck and being out there to see whether it’s going to be epic or a complete dud.

Well, on this evening, bringing the boat back to camp after doing some fishing on Pigeon Lake near Bobcaygeon, Ontario, Canada, we ran into some luck. Take a look at the YouTube Shorts footage below.

Pigeon Lake

Pigeon Lake is located in the Kawartha Lakes region of Ontario. The area was formerly associated with logging but now is mostly known as a cottage country vacation spot. The main centre on the lake is Bobcaygeon (City of Kawartha Lakes), a village at the northeast end.

This is part of the Trent Severn Waterway with Lock 32 located in the town of Bobcaygeon, connecting Pigeon with Sturgeon Lake. Both Buckhorn Lake and Bald Lake can be reached by boat without going through locks.

Pigeon is 27 kilometres in length and never more than 3 KM in width. At its deepest point, it’s 56 feet to the bottom. Much of the body of water is much shallower and weedy, making for perfect Largemouth Bass, Muskie and Walleye fishing. The usual sunfish, rock bass, crappie and yellow perch can be found, as well.
