LY-VET

This plane was seen landing at Toronto’s Pearson International Airport at the end of February, 2016. The Airbus A319-112 with registration LY-VET is currently being used by Cubana Airlines. However, the plane is on lease from Avion Express (since November 11, 2014) and retains that airline’s livery.

This plane took its first flight in June, 2002 and was originally owned by China Eastern Airlines. This is the only Airbus A319 in Cubana’s fleet and is currently based at Jose Marti International Airport in Havana, Cuba.

The airplane is configured with eight business class seats and 132 economy seats. Typically, the plane makes runs to and from airports within Cuba to destinations in Canada, Mexico, and the Caribbean.

The Airbus A319 is a shrunken down version of the A320. The first A319 was delivered in 1996 to Swissair.

Cubana

The national airline of Cuba first flew in 1930. Originally, it was a subsidiary of Pan American World Airways. After the revolution, Cubana became wholly owned by the Cuban Government in May, 1959. The airline is headquartered in Havana, Cuba.

The current fleet consists of 20 airliners. Five of these airplanes are Airbus A319’s and A320’s leased from Avion Express. The other 15 are Russian planes made by either Antonov or Ilyushin.

Cubana currently flies to over 20 destinations.

Avion Express

The airline was established in 2005 as Nordic Solutions Air Services. The name Avion Express came in 2008. Avion is headquartered in Vilnius, Lithuania. There are eleven airplanes in the airline’s fleet, all Airbus A320’s.

This is just one of many planes found in our Airliner Directory. There are many high quality images of airliners taken closeup and at differing angles. Most images are taken at Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) in Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, but some do come from elsewhere. Included in the current collection is an Emirates Airbus A380, a Delta Airlines Boeing 747 and a KLM Boeing 747, along with many other types of airplanes from several different airlines.

It’s About Airplanes

We’ve taken exciting steps to re-organize our airplane photos and info. This new direction will allow us to have a subsite of It’s About Travelling that is exclusively dedicated to airliners. Please, take a look at the new site: It’s About Airplanes!
