It’s About Travelling is Everywhere! Almost…

  • by

They say you gotta be everywhere. It’s not enough to just throw some mediocre photos and writing up on the web and expect people to find you. No, there’s Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, Instagram, LinkedIn, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera.

We’re out there. In some circles, we’re not overly popular yet but, we’re out there. Some has the It’s About Travelling branding. Some is under my own name and in some other places it’s under my old alias Justin Fromars.

What follows is where we are and what we think about it. We’re not at LinkedIn because I’ve heard bad things. We were late to the Facebook Page thing, but we’re slowly catching up. Twitter seems to be where it’s at with new followers jumping on board every day.

Twitter is great. It is the ultimate mobile social media. It is a great source of article ideas. It is a great way to connect with others in your niche. @AboutTravelling was launched at the end of 2012 and has just topped 1,500 followers.

Well, I’m still not sure if having a Facebook Page is a waste of time but sometimes you just have to follow the crowd. Our page was set up not too long ago and ‘Likes’ have been a little hard to come by but they’re slowly coming.

What is the point of an It’s About Travelling Facebook Page, anyway? It’s not only just another place to place links to our latest articles but we can also put up our latest YouTube videos or images we have posted at locations other than www.itsabouttravelling.com.

Ah, YouTube. My pride and joy. I really just got into uploading videos not much more than a year ago. I picked up Corel VideoStudio Pro x4 and slowly worked my way into the editing process. More recently, I’ve cut out adding background music and have just gone with the raw audio from the video clips. However, I still haven’t got up the nerve to do any voiceover. One of these days…

It’s About Travelling YouTube

Pic of the Day is a WordPress.com blog/site that I started before It’s About Travelling. It was originally intended to be updated each day with some image from our travels. Now, it acts more as a companion site for It’s About Travelling. I try to update often but it certainly is not everyday.

Lately, I’ve gotten into some personal opinion pieces to go along with the images. Not always, but when I let go, I have some valid points but mostly make an ass of myself.

Razzi.me is a revenue sharing site for photographers. Revenue sharing for article writers has been around for several years but Razzi is one of the only sites of its kind for images. Basically, this is for uploading images and when advertisements around those images are clicked on, the revenue is shared between the contributor and the site owner.

I’m not fully in yet. I have so many images that I want displayed but I would so much rather have them uploaded to a site that is fully mine.

I go by the handle WaterBlur in honour of one of my favourite effects in photography. Take a look: WaterBlur at Razzi.me.

Pinterest. Have you repinned an image of Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville on Grand Turk Island? If so, it was probably my image. That image seems to be my ultimate contribution to Pinterest. Almost daily, someone around the world repins that site. The image was originally part of an article at It’s About Travelling. Do I get traffic back to the site from Pinterest? Not very much.

On Pinterest, I go by the handle Justin Fromars. I made this pen name up years ago when I once made an attempt at writing fiction. Just in from Mars (yes, it should be Frommars)… Pin my crap: Justin Fromars on Pinterest.

Instagram (abouttravelling)

Sorry, no screenprint. Instagram is something that seems to only work for me on my smart phone – I think that’s the whole point of it. This one is really just for fun. It’s kind of handy for quickly uploading images but that is where the images die. They can’t be copied back off Instagram – I believe…

Come by any of the above locations – we would love to connect! Your follow always gets a follow back…
