4 Great Caribbean Resorts From Our Twitterverse

It’s been awhile since we did a ‘From Our Twitterverse’ feature. With summer coming to it’s eventual end in what will be a blink of an eye, it’s time to start thinking about that winter tropical vacation. With that in mind, we’re going to look at four different Caribbean resorts that are mutual followers on Twitter with It’s About Travelling.

Keep in mind, these are not reviews. We have not visited any of these four resorts nor are we in any way affiliated with them. This is simply a chance to open our horizons and hopefully yours to what’s out there. Afterall, your travel agent may be motivated to sell only certain big name resort chains and they may be giving you a very narrow view of what’s out there. By the way, if you’ve been to any of these four resorts and want to share your experience – let us know in the comments.

Please note, images are borrowed from each resorts official website. Each official website is given below.

Coconut Bay Beach Resort & Spa

coconut bay beach resort st. luciaIf you have a family like us and you want to be hero parents, you honestly must take a deeper look at Coconut Bay. Located on the tropical and exotic island of St. Lucia, Coconut Bay in a 250 room complex located on an expansive 85 acre ocean front plot of land.

This is the only all-inclusive resort of the four featured here today. There are four restaurants and six bars. There are the typical facilities like a fitness centre, tennis courts, basketball courts and a spa. However, it’s how the resort is split in two that makes it truly unique.

On one side, there’s Harmony – the adults only end. The other side is Splash – a wild, fantasy-fulfilling playground for kids of all ages. The Splash side features the Caribbean’s first paintball facility. It also features the Cocoland Kidz Club for the really young. However, it’s the waterpark that will win the hearts of those you brought along for the ride. Included with several waterslides is a lazy river ride.

Coconut Bay claims to be St. Lucia’s best value and at a glance the prices are indeed pretty good. This is no three star at Veradero, Cuba, mind you. You will pay money but the rates are reasonable and you must remember that you really do get what you pay for. Their website is probably one of the most comprehensive of any Caribbean resort I’ve looked at. You can book directly through the website but package deals including flight are available for great rates through your travel agent.

Sugar Reef Caribbean Beach Hotel

sugar reef caribbean beach hotel bequia st vincent the grenadinesWith Sugar Reef, we move away from family life for some intimate time with our significant other. The resort is adult only with 18 being the minimum age. Located at Bequia, St. Vincent & The Grenadines, this boutique hotel is located on a 65 acre coconut plantation and borders 600 more acres of government owned tropical Caribbean forest. Out front is a private beach with waters protected by a coral reef.

Without visiting, I would suggest that Sugar Reef caters to those looking for a mix of adventure and luxury. This is not an all-inclusive resort but does include a continental breakfast. There is one restaurant on site with several nearby.

Accommodations are found in two locations on the property. Three of the eight rooms are located at the Beach House while the other five are a bit further up in the tropical hills at French House. A quick glance at rates shows a reasonable range of $120 to $300 per room per night, depending on the room and the time of year.

San Juan Water Beach Club Hotel

san juan water beach club hotel puerto ricoFor those who want to party, Water Beach Hotel claims to be the place to be in San Juan, Puerto Rico. At the outer stretches of a boutique hotel, Water Beach Club has 80 guest rooms in what looks to be a six to seven story building.

There are two restaurants at the hotel. The Mist Rooftop Bar should provide incredible views and incredible drinks. For food, the hotel houses the Zest Restaurant. Rooms are reasonable at $150 to $300 using early December, 2014 dates for reference. Rooms range from city view king rooms to ocean view suites.
